  • Immigrant and Latinx Issues

As an immigrant or first-generation American, you may experience more symptoms characteristic of anxiety or depression than other people your age. Perhaps, you went or are going through a separation, uncertainty, and lack of opportunities. You may come from a family in which values and traditions are different than the mainstream, and trying to blend them in your day to day activities is a challenge.

Culture is a cluster of intangibles and tangible aspects of life passed down from generation to generation

You have a distinct understanding of culture, family, and maybe languages. You are more open-minded and have a particular appreciation for the advantages this country offers, but also, you acknowledge barriers and significant challenges. The possible disconnection from your family of origin due to your current life experiences and the impostor syndrome are just other ways you get reminded that you are different.

You want to find your place in this country, to think, and feel there is a way to achieve your goals. Finally, feel you belong and to have that sense of self you had seen in others but never in yourself. You would like to cope with uncertainty, embrace your heritage, and make your version of what means to be you.

If you or someone you love is struggling with any of the issues above and would like to explore treatment options, please be in touch. You don’t need to struggle alone.
